Let the Training Begin

So many of you ask how my marathon training is coming along. A few of you have actually questioned if I will follow through. The answer is yes. If you dare to place a bet on this, I will gladly accept another along with the one I placed with Josh.

The training has certainly begun. On Sunday, I carried Olivia approximately one half mile straight from the park to our home (because silly me assumed she would walk back so I opted for no stroller). I call this weight-training. Dudes, if you think it was a piece of cake, let me tell you that arms are still sore, but not as much as my calves...it was a lot of legwork, too. You try carrying a 25 pound toddler and a glass of water for half a mile and not break a sweat. I am well on my way, yessiree.

Also, I'm looking to get about a four hour playlist on my iPod. Four hours. Twelve miles. Any good running/walking songs have you to recommend? I'd appreciate it greatly.

Stay tuned for more updates...

How do I put money on you? I know you'll do it!

When I was training for Ride the Rockies, on the trainer, I usually watched recorded tv shows. But I keep wanting to put together a workout playlist. I don't know what songs you have, but what I look for in a workout playlist are fast tempo, high energy songs. They make me move faster, therefore improving me.

Some of the stuff I'd have on mine if I were to put it together today:

1) Practically anything fron Ben Folds' debut album.
2) Toxic, Britney (yeah, some of the songs are good despite the social life of said person)
3) Erase/Rewind - the Cardigans
4) Politik - Coldplay
5) Worked up, Glass Danse, Agenda Suicide, I Dissapear - The Faint
6) Upbeat songs like Yeah Yeah Song, Fight Test, Do You Realized and Free Radicals - Flaming Lips
7) I Predict a Riot, Ruby - The Kaiser Chiefs
8) Is It Any Wonder - Keane
9) Since U Been Gone, Miss Independent - Kelly Clarkson
10) Mr Brightside - The Killers
11) Apocalypse Please, Time is Running Out, Hysteria, Butterflies and Hurricanes, TSP, Endlessly, Fillip, Muscle Museum - Muse
12) Crush with Eyeliner, Bang and Blame - REM
13) Anything off "The Bends" and most of "Hail to the Thief" from Radiohead
14) Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters
15) Mighty Little Man, What I Do on Saturday's - Steve Burns (yes THAT Steve Burns, he made a rock album)
16) Sing - Travis
17) Zoo Station, The Fly - u2
18) The entire American Idiot album from Greenday

That ought to get you started. :) Thanks, now you helped me make a workout playlist!

Oh I love anything that has to do with music.

Workout songs, I don't have to many as I don't really work out. I also have young kids, they are there own workout.

There is a new Ting Tings song, Shut and let me go, it a good one. That Okay go one is always fun too.

Good Luck with your training.

I don't have any song suggestions. But I agree with "uncle todd" fast tempo, peppy ones would get you moving.
Carrying a child that far is totally a workout in itself! Even carrying my 30 lb son from the basement to the top floor of our two-story house is a workout!

Anything with Black Eye Peas. That's what's on my Ipod "gym" playlist.

I'm thinking (just thinking!) about running a marathon in the fall. I'll have to keep up with your blog and maybe you'll inspire me to really start training :)
P.S. I like listening to ridiculous songs like "Milkshake" when I work out.

Wow, Uncle Todd really thought this one out. Cool. But, here are a few of my suggestions which you may have thought of already.
Outkast: Hey Ya! (my butt would sure be shakin it like a polaroid picture while running)
Dixie Chicks: Ready to Run (this could be key to getting you to the finish line)
Justin Timberlake: Rock your Body (cuz your body's gonna need some rockin to run that far)
